So yesterday we talked about the layout of the master bedroom, and when I got home today, the new Pottery Barn Bed & Bath catalog was in my mailbox. As usual, I sat down right away to go through it and see if there was anything that caught my eye. I didn’t even have to open it to find the inspiration I needed. Right there on the cover was my new obsession.
That bed is my new best friend. Ok, let’s rewind a minute… if you remember back to when I showed you my inspiration board, you will realize that is not the style bed I had on there.
That white, chunky, wood bed from IKEA is what I had in mind. And I’ve been convinced that this style of bed is the way I wanted to go. I love Ana White’s farmhouse bed and Katie from Bower Power sealed the deal (or so I thought) when she built her bed.
But then the PB catalog came in. And I created floor plans for our bedroom. And I realized a big, chunky bed like this one along with our big, chunky dressers and tiny room were just not going to get along well. And then I remembered Layla and Kevin’s bed over at the The Lettered Cottage. Because, I must admit, I might be a tad bit obsessed with their style.
I knew right away that the $1,050 Pottery Barn Mendocino Bed was a little outside our budget. Ok, make that a lot outside of our budget. By about $1,000. So I headed over to TLC to find out where they got their bed (they spray painted it an oil rubbed bronze when they got it). It’s theĀ JCPenny Kensington, which is priced reasonably well if you only want the headboard at $140. But if you want the whole shebang- headboard, footboard and side rails- you’re looking at about $250. Which again, is outside our budget.
Then I remembered that Overstock.com sent me a discount code (which I will share with you here in a minute). I headed over to the web site to hunt down the bed of our dreams. *Insert awesomeness here.*
The Overstock.com Cooper Bed is only $194 (for today, yesterday it was $197). But it gets better. I have that 10% discount code, and did I mention, that shipping on ANYTHING from Overstock.com is only $2.95. So I can get the whole shebang for about $175! I’m thinking that a pretty good deal!
So for right now, this is what we are leaning towards. I’m convinced that the open lines and less-chunky look will help the room feel a little bigger as opposed to putting a solid wood bed in there. Plus I LOOOOVE the lines in this bed. So classic. I’m not a fan of metal bed with curvy lines and intricate detail, but this one is truly love at first site. Now I just have to find the extra $175 laying around somewhere.
So about that discount code. Go to Overstock.com and find some fabulous deals then go check-out. Enter code 121745 (excluding movies, book and electronics) at checkout and receive your 10% off. This discount code never expires, but it can only be used once per e-mail address. You can also use code 202234 for free shipping on electronics.
I also found this great quilt set that would look good with our current duvet and bedding. What great deals have you found on Overstock.com lately? What do you think of the metal bed versus my original love of the chunky, wood bed?
Essex 3-Piece Quilt Set- $69.99
All the ideas and opinions expressed are my own. No monetary compensation was received for doing this post, however, I was provided with a discount code.

How AWESOME is that!?
SUCH a great deal, and SUCH AN AWESOME bed!!!!

PS- Thanks for the sweet shout out!
I actually like the overstock bed better than the pb bed … it’s lines are so clean! Great find

I love that bed you found on Overstock! And what I like as a bonus with the iron frame is that in the future you could always DIY an upholstered headboard and footboard over the existing iron frame. You know, just in case you want something different someday.
Um, you are a genius!!! (And yes, auto spellcheck had to fix my spelling of “genius”!!) I had never thought of that and now the bed is double the fun!!
Can I have a pocket-Jane to carry with me at all times?
I really like the Overstock bed. If you decide to go with the other style in the future, you could always use it in an extra bedroom.
[...] though, I’ve decided on the Cooper bed from Overstock and plan on ordering it soon with the last of my Christmas money. I’m glad I decided to go [...]
