It’s Friday again, and that means another link party! But first, I want to show you the freshly painted bathroom. And by bathroom, I really mean half the bathroom, because let’s be honest, I’m no John or Sherry and I can’t paint a whole room in one day. There arms must be super strong because after about an hour of priming or painting, I’m whooped.
So just a reminder, here were the four colors we were choosing from. (Holy moly, paint chips are so never the same as the actual paint on a wall.) We went with the bottom color, which is a 25% match to the color that is currently on the walls.
And here is the newly painted and clean guest/my bathroom. We got the paint from Home Depot and color matched it to Behr Premium Plus (make that post numero 24) Please ignore the red tint on some of the walls as the light bulb above me is a heat lamp and gives off that awful-red hue. I love how light and airy the bathroom is now! And a new coat of paint, even if it’s the same color as before, always makes a room look so fresh and inviting. So I invite you to come into my bathroom. Is that awkward? No? Good.
Here is the top part. Wouldn’t that light fixture look so much better in an oil-rubbed bronze?
I know you really can’t tell too much of a difference, but here is the bathroom pre-cabinet paint and new-countertops and wall paint. I hope you can tell a little how much darker it was before.
And another view. This bathroom is a super awkward shape so you get to see me with the camera to my face in this one. I tried to pull a House Hunters type mirror-blur, but PS just wasn’t working with me. And do you see my loverly Pottery Barn cosmetic bag? I finally spent a little bit of my gift card!
A close up of how awesome the countertops look with the new paint. Look close enough at the countertops and you can see flecks of a tan in there… how perfect is that match?!?!
And here is the countertop with the original wall color. Again, it’s hard to tell the difference but it kind of gives you an idea.
Here is the view looking from my sink backwards. I love the frames and cabinet with the new color, everything looks so sharp and clean.
The wall has a yellow undertone and you can see it in this picture. I want to add some clear shelf paper to the glass so you can’t see everything in there, kind of like Thrifty Decor Chick did here to her pantry door. I’m also toying with the idea of doing some sort of painted wallpaper on this back wall like Censtational Girl did in her bedroom or even putting a wall vinyl chandelier above the cabinet.
And here’s a picture just to keep it real. Between my plumber having the flu and 0-5 degree weather we have had this week, I am still toilet-less. And no, I did not empty my trash can for you, because it’s a trashcan, and it’s meant to have trash in it. Don’t worry, it’s nothing too gross, just some painters tape and paper towels from when I cleaned. And I hate that pipe coming out of the wall because I a.) feel like it’s staring at me and b.) think it’s going to start shooting dirty water at me any minute now.
Here is our trim half-painted. I painted enough of the trim in case the plumber came on Monday, but it also gives you an idea of the nasty yellow that is going on in most of our house at the moment. This trim was in the worst shape, but a little sanding, caulk, wood filler and paint make it bearable to look at.
Another half-painted shot. This is in the corner above the door, and the only light in this area is the red heat lamp. But you can really tell how much lighter the new color is.
Patch job #1. Pretty good huh? This one will be behind the toilet.
Patch job #2. A little more noticeable, but I am considering hanging a wire magazine rack here next to the toilet paper holder.
And here is my photoshop version of a little DIY project I’m hoping to do this summer. I found a great tutorial from Rhoda over at Southern Hospitality.
So, there’s our new guest bathroom color, and I absolutely love it!
Also, go check out some of the pictures from our family photo shoot with Nizhoni Pet Photography. The picture in our header is from that shoot and she did such a great job!!

Your bathroom is looking fabulous! And the changes you’ve made have had a huge impact – definitely brighter and fresher.
I’ve noticed in our house that most imperfect patch jobs happen to be exactly where I need to hang something.
Your bathroom looks AMAZING! Such a huge difference. And, you did a great patch job. We have to patch in the next couple weeks and I hope ours looks that good!
I love that countertop and the cute little speckles in it! And yes, paint never looks as you think it will!
That photo shoot with your puppies is a-dor-able! Love the bathroom color, too. I’m going to be sharing my half-made-over guest bath on House Bella this week.
