Holiday Home Tour 2011

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you’ll forgive my blast of Christmas postings this week, but I’ve been partying with a few other bloggers this week, and this is our full holiday house tour! You’ve seen a majority of what we’ve decorated… but there are a few spots I haven’t shown you yet and a few different angles! So please, come on in! (And I promise next week we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled Friday Fad postings!!)

Our entertainment center is always a challenge for me to decorate. I don’t want it to feel too choppy, and putting frames in each square seems repetitive. But I think I finally settled on how its arranged this year.

Here’s a close up of the top part.

On the left side we have our Charlie Brown collection. We’re slightly obsessed. And by we, I mean Ryan, and so now I am. ;) Above that is a reindeer my mom bought me last year, and a few sparkly Christmas cones and snowmen bells that were handed down to me from my mom.

On the right side is a Christmas lantern from HomeGoods, a few candles, a vase of ornaments and some pinecones I picked up while we were in South Lake Tahoe.

**Side Note** Yesterday I forgot to explain something about our Christmas tree. It’s not fancy, and there is no “theme” besides our memories. This year we decided against hanging any generic ornament balls that I picked up years ago at the big box stores. Our tree is all about ornaments that are close to our hearts. Last year, I explained the meaning behind some of the ornaments, you can read more about that here. Maybe one day if we live in a big, fancy-schmancy house, and if I ever have two trees, we’ll have our memory tree and another themed tree for show. But for now, on our one tree, we want to make sure the ornaments we hang there mean something to us.

To the right of our entertainment center is the dining room.

I posted about our rustic glam table on Monday, but got some new shots the other day while the sun was out.

I’m slightly obsessed with our table and sideboard this year. It was so fun to finally be able to put together a few vignettes, and I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty proud of the way they turned out! This was my first official “table setting”, and I LOVE IT!

Only a few cookies left… I’ve been helping myself this week! Leggings have recently become my best friend. :D

The placemats were my whole inspiration for the table and you can find them at Target.

From the dining room, looking back into the living room, you can see the tree and our faux Christmas mantel, aka stocking hanger.

My mom asked we had 5 stockings. No, I am not pregnant, in case you don’t follow me on Twitter to see my daily tweets about everyone being pregnant. I’m still happily enjoying my occasional glasses of wine! The middle stocking is our advent calendar. Which, speaking of, I need to move since I am a few days behind. Oops.

And that ends our holiday house tour. I hung the wreath on the door, and one on the front window, but that’s all the outdoor decorating we did this year. We didn’t put up lights because honestly it’s been too dang cold (two days of 20 and below) and the only plug we could use makes it way too difficult to mess with. Next year though. I will have my lights next year. I toyed with the idea of getting some poinsettias or a mini tree for the porch, but we are going skiing then into town for a few days each, and I’m bad enough when it comes to watering while I’m actually home.

I guess I’ll have to settle with looking at the neighbors lights, which, I’m hoping to get some pictures of for next week’s blog posts, because our neighborhood goes ALL OUT! Like mule-drawn carriage rides and everything. Yes, mule-drawn. Not horses. Mules. Welcome to West Texas. We ride horses to school, but use mules to draw our carriages for Christmas-light tours.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and we’ll be back on Monday, hopefully with a Christmas craft for holiday cards!
