Stylish Blogger Award

Well, I told you I’d give you an update on our welded tent situation. Here is what the tent looked like at 6:15 pm last night. (Sorry for the crappy iPhone photo, this was in our shed after the sun went down.)

While the KwikSteel worked, the wind got to the tent before we could tie it down. After a series of different ideas of what to do with the tent (put it back up and tie it down, take it apart, tie it down, put sand bags on it to hold it down, etc.), and upon further inspection of the tent after it fell over the second time, we decided that to replace and fix the broken parts, it would probably cost more in the end. Not to mention the cold front and -20 wind chill and prospect of snow was nipping us in the boo-tay (literally), so we were trying to work as fast and furious as possible. So here is our beloved tent in it’s final resting place. Well, until it’s warm enough to take it around to the dumpster. I’m not gunna lie. I actually cried for a minute about it. For us not tying it down properly in the first place. For us spending $200 on it and not even getting a year’s use out of it. And for the fact that we were literally 15 minutes away from completely fixing the problem before the wind blew it over. Consider this lesson learned.

But on to the real purpose of this post.

7 Things About Me

  1. This is going to sound ridiculous seeing as how I have a blog that I post on 4-5 times a week and I write articles and posts as my job, but I HATE writing. Seriously. I’ve always been told me I’m good at it, but I’ve never really enjoyed it. I will admit that starting a blog and writing daily has changed my feelings a little, and it is definitely my own form of therapy, but it is not my favorite thing to do by any means. I just had to get that out. I know, I’m insane. But I live with myself somehow. :)
  2. I knew I was going to marry my husband after about four months of dating. We are complete opposites and I don’t know how we do it, but we go together like peanut butter and jelly. Like milk and cookies. Like John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

  1. I cry when I see elderly people eating alone. My husband thinks I’m a nut job, but I can see in their eyes that they have a story to tell. In my mind, they are alone because they never found their soulmate, or because their soulmate has already gone. My husband just says, “What if they want to eat alone?” Then I ask if we can invite them to come eat with us. We have yet to invite anyone to our table.
  2. I’m an ex-gymnast and totally wish I had overcome my fear on the bars. I would have loved to stay in gymnastics, but I’m glad I had the chance to run track, join the drill team in high school and be a part of the yearbook staff.
  3. I love to be outdoors. My favorite things are skiing and hiking. And I loved the one time I went rock climbing, even though I’m terrified of heights, and would do anything to go again. Now if I can just convince my husband to try it too….
  4. I don’t have a favorite song or movie or book or TV show or actor or musician. I just can’t decide on one favorite for any category. Plus, there are too many choices across too many genres.
  5. Dogs are the only siblings I’ve ever had. Now they are the only children I’ve ever had.

That’s a huge bummer about the tent. I know not every project can turn out perfectly, but it’s still so disappointing, especially when money has been invested.

On to the more upbeat parts:
You’re gorgeous, and I think that’s awesome that you want to invite old people to eat with you. What a great idea – you should totally do it! I heart old people, and feel so bad when they seem to be all alone.

Yah, and it was one of those days where nothing is going right and it’s one bad thing after another.

And I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only crazy lady out there that gets sad when they see old people eating alone!! :)

OMG, I cry when I see elderly people eating alone too and I am an ex-gymnast! (I quit before a big comp because I was so shy and the thought of being in front of a gazillion people scared me to death.) Thanks so much for thinking of me and that tent sitch is a bummer!
