This is my take on combining the 30 Before 30 and Bucket List! I have seen tons of 30 Before 30 posts around the blogosphere lately and decided that I wanted to make one. Granted, I am a couple years off from being 30 and I realize most people give themselves one year to complete their 30 things, but I added my own little take and decided on a few things I wanted to do before having a baby. You see, it seems everyone is having a baby (which is great, because they are ready to start a family). And everyone wants to know when we are having a baby (which is not great, because we are not ready to start a family). So I made a list of all the things I wanted to accomplish before adding a new addition to our little family, which may be 30, or 28 or 31. Who knows.
1. Get my real estate license (semi-completed on 2/20/12, my license is currently inactive)
2. Get my broker’s license (if we still live in Texas in 4 years)
3. Help a first-time homebuyer purchase their first place
4. Create memory books for the years since college
5. Go skiing and come back in one piece
6. Learn to speak Spanish fluently
7. Visit DC (going in June 2012)
8. Visit NYC (going in June 2012)
9. Help a friend plan their wedding
10. Plant a tree
11. Take architecture classes
12. Pay off our debt
13. Build a house with Habitat for Humanity
14. Attend a bloggers conference (preferably Haven or Alt Summit)
15. Perfect the art of homemade icing
16. Do Yoga or Pilates
17. Introduce Ryan to beauty and wonder of Europe
18. Ride in a hot air balloon
19. Donate my hair to Locks of Love
20. Take a sewing class
21. Build a piece of furniture
22. Buy our second home
23. Save enough for a 12-month emergency fund
24. Take a cruise with Ryan
25. Host a surprise party
26. Go mountain climbing in Colorado
27. Participate in the Color Run
28. Zip-line in Hawaii
29. Stop cussing
30. Get my private pilot’$ licen$e
So please, my dear family, don’t freak out or get too excited. This doesn’t mean a baby is anywhere in our near future. If you look closely at the list, there are lots of things I want to do and places I want to go before then. And a few of them might cost a bit, meaning we will be broke before we know it. But a girl can dream, right?!?!
And in case your wondering, yes that is me looking prego in the picture above. Back in 2007, when I lived in Spain for a bit, I gained a little extra weight thanks to my daily gelato runs. I also have this uncanny ability to make myself look pregnant by pushing my stomach out. It runs in my family. Typically with the males. Lucky me, I’m the only female that can completely pull off looking 6-months pregnant when I am, in fact, not pregnant.

I love the “stop cussing” one!! There’s a whole lot on that list girl! But I think it’s a great idea–I’m a planner, and I love goals! It makes me more productive and intentional.

It’s just nice to write all my dreams out and it’ll be soooo satisfying to cross them off! I can’t wait to see how many things I can actually accomplish before we start expanding our family!
This is a great list – and a great idea! There are so many things I want to do pre-kiddos, I really should make a list

I would love to see yours! I like peeking at other people’s list for inspiration and ideas to steal!
Wow! That is a lot of things. I might have a baby before you if you want to get all of that accomplished!
Hahaha! I’m thinking the only one that may not happen is my pilot’s license. It costs between $7k-$10k. Can I borrow some money? And maybe for our cruise we can make it a cousin’s cruise!?!? I think that would be awesome!
I love your list! I’ve been working on my own “bucket list” for a little while now. We just recently came up with our travel bucket list, which includes your #7 & 8. But in terms of the pre-pregnancy bucket list, so far the only thing we’ve really set as a goal is your #12 – be debt free. If we can do that quickly enough, we’d LOVE to have a large emergency fund. But our biggie is to be debt free first. Good luck!!

Stumbled across this while trying to build my own “baby bucket list”. All your ideas look awesome.
Lauren- Thank you. Just saw your list too and I love how you divided them into categories! May just have to do that too! Thanks for stopping by.
