A Few Blog Updates

Over the weekend, I got bored and finally did a few things around the blog on my list of “to-do’s”.

I seem to have a commitment issue when it comes to a color theme. Hence the change up in the header. I’m also more than sure that within the next two months those colors will be replaced at least twice.

I’ve been wanting to add some buttons in the sidebar for a few of my post categories. The category drop-down menu is boring and I love being able to highlight certain projects with these buttons. These six categories are what most of my posts are about, but I’m hoping to bring in more under Recipes and Travel. One day, these button’s will lead to Gallery pages and not just a feed of posts under that category. One day.

I’ve also added a link to my new photography business Facebook page. You know, just in case anyone is interested in it.

I’m still working on a few other things to add, like an Amarillo Blogger’s page. Over the last few weeks, I have found a few new-to-me bloggers in the area, which really makes me happy. I want to have a place where other Amarillo Bloggers can find us, and I’m excited that we are going to be planning our first blogger meet-up soon.

I’d love to have the entire sight redesigned by a professional, but I want to integrate my photo business in with my blog and have one big overhaul in the future. Maybe towards the end of summer, when finances allow it and my photography business has grown enough to support everything I want to do with it on the web, I’ll hire someone to redesign the blog and create a photography site as well.

The last thing I worked on this weekend was my Facebook page.

I created buttons and installed apps for the blog, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. I love the change and think it’s much better than the original buttons/clip-art that Facebook uses.

Office Inspiration Board

The office is one space in our new home that will definitely be getting more love than in our previous homes. Reason #1, I work in there a lot during the day if I do not go into the real estate office. Reason #2, my iMac is much easier to work on than my laptop, plus I run my blog and photography business from home as well. This picture is the biggest source of inspiration for what I want our office to look like. Clean, bright but still colorful with the accessories they use.

And then of course, there is my affinity for navy walls. While we currently rent our home, I’d love to be able to have a navy office one day. Something about navy, white and the warm texture of wood just makes my heart happy.

I’ve put together an inspiration board for our office. I have to incorporate my love for pretty with Ryan’s love for baseball while making it organized and sufficient for both our needs. And even though I do spend more time in the office than the hubs does, I want this to be a space that we are both comfortable working in. The blue, white and green theme work well for us as Ryan is a Yankees fan and a lot of the art we have is of baseball fields.
